Solid Pneumatic Forklift Tires
Solid pneumatic forklift tires are typically used in industrial and commercial applications where there is a lot of debris. This type of tire cannot be punctured by nails, screws, etc. which makes it a great option for scrap yards and construction sites.
As the name suggests, solid pneumatic tires are made out of solid rubber and come in all the same sizes as the pneumatic tires. Our solid pneumatic durable and almost indestructible tires can last you an extremely long time increasing their value when compared to others.

Solid Tires Vs. Air Tires
Solid Pneumatic Forklift tires, also known as Pneumatic Shaped Solid Tires, are built in the exact same sizes as standard pneumatic tires, so they fit the same rims and wheel assemblies without any equipment modification. The difference comes down to what's inside: pneumatic tires use an air-filled inner tube, while solid pneumatics are cast from a single piece of solid rubber. Like any tire choice, there are tradeoffs to weigh based on your application, surface conditions, and how much downtime your operation can tolerate.
How Tire Sizing Works
Solid pneumatic tires use the same sizing format as pneumatic tires: outer diameter x width - rim diameter, for example 18x7-8 or 28x9-15. The last number is the rim diameter, and it determines which wheel the tire mounts to. Common forklift rim sizes include 8, 10, 15, and 16.5 inches. Because solid pneumatics share the same dimensions as their air-filled counterparts, switching from pneumatic to solid pneumatic on the same forklift usually only means swapping the tire, not the wheel.
If you're not sure which size your equipment takes, check the sidewall of your current tire first. If the size has worn off, the forklift's data plate will usually list the original tire size as well. Our FAQ page covers this in more detail, along with common questions about tire spinning and installation.

Available Constructions
All-Star stocks solid pneumatic tires across a few constructions and price points:
- ECLAT - 3-stage construction and our softest-riding solid pneumatic. Lumber yard customers running 12K dual-drive forklifts regularly report over 5,000 operating hours.
- General Service (GS Solid) - our most competitively priced solid pneumatic line. Built in 2-stage and 3-stage construction with steel-reinforced beads to prevent spinning on the wheel.
- Solid Solver - our premium line, recommended when resistance to chipping and chunking is the top priority.
Load capacities vary by size rather than by construction; see the chart above for exact ratings. Not sure which construction fits your application? Contact our team and we'll help you match the right tire to your equipment and environment.
Advantages compared to pneumatics:
- Reduced downtime. No risk of flats from nails, screws, or metal debris common in scrap yards and demo sites.
- Flat-proof by design. Solid rubber construction means there's no air chamber to lose pressure.
- Improved equipment stability. A consistent tire profile removes the risk of uneven inflation between tires.
- Longer service life. Typically lasts 2 to 3 times longer than a comparable pneumatic tire.
- Improved safety. Eliminates the risk of rapid air loss under load.
- Higher carrying capacity. Solid rubber construction supports heavier loads without sidewall flex.
Disadvantages compared to pneumatics:
- Firmer ride. Can increase wear on forklift components like the mast and axle over time.
- Higher rolling resistance. Consumes more fuel since solid rubber is harder to roll than an air-filled tire.
- Driver fatigue. A firmer ride is more noticeable over long shifts.
- Wheel breakage risk. More likely under heavy impact than with a cushioned pneumatic tire.
- Requires specialized equipment to install. Solid pneumatics must be pressed onto the wheel with a hydraulic press, unlike pneumatics, which mount with standard tire tools.
